From 8 to 10 September 2026, the Multinational CIMIC Group Headquarters conducted CIMIC Training Hub 26-1 (CTH 26-1), in co-organisation with the 2nd POL Corps and hosted at the Corps’ Headquarters in Kraków, Poland.
The activity brought together nearly 50 military and civilian participants from 12 Allied nations, representing 33 national and NATO organisations and headquarters. Participants included representatives from Allied CIMIC units and NATO and Allied headquarters, including JFCBS, JSEC, LANDCOM and MNC-NE, as well as national CIMIC and joint headquarters.
CTH 26-1 was the first fully structured iteration of the CIMIC Training Hub series, building on the pilot event conducted in Motta di Livenza in July 2025.
From Regional Plans to tactical readiness
The training focused on the contribution of tactical CIMIC capabilities in support of NATO’s Regional Plans, with particular attention to the roles of CIMIC tactical units and CIMIC Liaison Detachments.
Academic inputs and facilitated discussions connected NATO requirements with tactical preparation, interoperability and the ability to operate effectively within the civil environment of a sovereign Allied nation.
Poland provided the practical Host Nation context for the activity, allowing participants to examine the importance of understanding national civil emergency planning and crisis-management systems when preparing CIMIC support to land operations.
Connecting planning, training and interoperability
CTH 26-1 addressed a central requirement for multinational CIMIC: ensuring that different headquarters and national capabilities can work from a common understanding and apply compatible procedures.
The activity connected planning, tactical preparation, Host Nation understanding and interoperability, while supporting the continued development of CIMIC capabilities aligned with NATO requirements.
Representatives from NATO and Allied headquarters and CIMIC organisations contributed subject-matter expertise throughout the activity, linking different levels of command with the practical requirements faced by tactical CIMIC elements.
Building on the CIMIC Training Hub
CTH 26-1 represents the next step in the development of the CIMIC Training Hub concept.
The initiative supports a more coherent approach to tactical CIMIC training and contributes to the readiness and interoperability of national CIMIC capabilities in support of the NATO Force Model and Regional Plans.
By bringing together NATO requirements, national capabilities and tactical preparation, the CIMIC Training Hub provides a multinational environment in which common understanding can be translated into more effective and interoperable CIMIC capabilities.
The outcomes of CTH 26-1 will contribute to the continued development of future CIMIC Training Hub iterations and to the refinement of tactical CIMIC preparation across participating organisations.
