THE COMMANDER OF THE MULTINATIONAL CIMIC GROUP VISITS THE 1st CIMIC UNITBATTALION IN BUCHAREST

As part of the annual programme of visits to the battalions of the Nations participating in the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG), the Commander of MNCG, Colonel Piero Furlan, accompanied by the Command Senior Enlisted Leader, CWO Antonio Colia, visited the 1st CIMIC Unit Battalion in Bucharest.

The delegation was welcomed by the Commander of the Romanian battalion, LTC Ana-Maria Grandel, with whom a productive institutional and professional exchange took place. The meeting provided an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the unit’s structure, its main tasks, and the way its activities are planned and conducted.

In particular, the Romanian CIMIC Unit conducts training activities aimed at promoting interagency interaction and contributing to national security. This objective is pursued through dedicated regional-level exercises designed to test the preparedness of CIMIC operators in the management of different types of crises. The visit forms part of the regular activities promoted by MNCG Command to maintain close coordination with participating national units, encourage the sharing of experience, and strengthen interoperability in a multinational environment.

The meeting was also attended by a representative of the U.S. Civil Affairs team, SGT Steffel, who is actively involved in supporting the activities of the Romanian CIMIC component.

The initiative confirms MNCG’s commitment to promoting shared standards, solid professional relationships, and an increasingly integrated and effective CIMIC capability.
