IMPORTANT PROJECTS FOR BENADIR REGION DISTRICTS

MNCG operators are developing several projects in coordination with local authorities

Somalia, April, 2021
In December 2020 the European Union Training Mission Somalia (EUTM-S) CIMIC Operators delivered around 30 tons of rice and flour to the Benadir Region, in particular in Shingani, Dharkeynley, Kaxda, Deynile, Yaqshid, Bon Dhere districts. Soldiers from the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG) were responsible to deliver the food after natural disasters, as floods and invasions of locusts, which affected some areas of Benadir.
Actually, having become aware of the situation, EUTM-S CIMIC cell, made up of MNCG Operators, contacted the Benadir Regional Administration (BRA) to discuss a solution in order to support the population. BRA members confirmed the CIMIC assessment of the areas and requested to support the people in any possible way. “EUTM-S CIMIC has planned many new projects for the districts all over Mogadishu, not only in such a sensitive sector as humanitarian aid but also in emergency service, education, health and security field” said Lt. Col Matteo Mineo. The local District Commissioners expressed their gratitude for the food aid and, at the same time, asked for further assistance for Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camps. The food aids are expected to last some more months until a larger region-wide relief program, managed by local institutions, will begin.
