From 3 to 8 May 2026, the Multinational CIMIC Group, in close cooperation with the Croce Rossa Italiana Veneto, hosted in Jesolo the annual session of the UN CMCoord course sponsored by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The six-day residential training brought together 25 participants, supported by five international facilitators, with the aim of enhancing effective civil–military coordination in humanitarian emergencies. The course focused on strengthening participants’ understanding and application of UN-CMCoord principles, including the appropriate use of military and civil defence assets to support the timely delivery of humanitarian assistance to affected populations.
Throughout the activity, participants engaged in realistic scenario-based discussions and practical exercises designed to foster a shared understanding of the operational environment and the interaction between civilian and military actors. The training model, widely recognized at the international level, is part of the United Nations’ broader efforts to promote coordinated, effective, and principled responses in crisis situations.
Beyond the technical content, a defining feature of the course was the high level of engagement and professionalism demonstrated by all participants. Coming from diverse institutional and geographical backgrounds, they contributed a wide range of perspectives and real-world experiences, significantly enriching the learning environment and going well beyond the formal training framework.
This initiative further confirms the role of the Multinational CIMIC Group as a key hub for CIMIC training and capability development in the international environment, while strengthening cooperation with civilian and humanitarian organizations. In an increasingly complex global context, civil–military coordination remains a critical enabler to ensure timely, coherent, and effective support to populations in need.
