The Multinational CIMIC Group took part in the 2026 edition of the NATO Senior Leader Seminar on Comprehensive Approach and Multi-Domain Operations, held in Brussels from 14 to 16 April 2026, with the participation of the MNCG Commander, Colonel Piero Furlan, and Command Warrant Officer Antonio Colia.
The seminar provided a senior leader-level forum to address one of the most relevant challenges for the Alliance: translating the Comprehensive Approach into operational reality, strengthening civil-military integration within Multi-Domain Operations, and fostering the alignment of NATO efforts with those of Nations, the European Union, the United Nations and other key actors. In an increasingly complex strategic environment, the ability to synchronize military and non-military instruments is essential to support deterrence, collective defence and stability.
In this framework, civil-military cooperation plays a central role in connecting military planning with the civil environment, local and international institutions, and operational requirements on the ground. The Multinational CIMIC Group’s contribution was based on more than twenty years of experience gained in operational theatres. From this perspective, Colonel Furlan brought to the discussion a practical and operationally grounded view, highlighting the need to turn concepts discussed at the strategic level into tools, procedures and actions applicable at the operational and tactical levels.
The participation in the seminar confirms the role of the MNCG as a specialist reference in the CIMIC domain and as a multinational capability able to contribute to the development of practical solutions to make the Comprehensive Approach fully effective within the framework of Multi-Domain Operations.
