The project to connect the Somali and Italian Universities is taking shape

In recent weeks, the Civil Military Cooperation Cell as part the Italian Contingent of EUTM-S (European Union Training Mission-Somalia), made up by Multinational CIMIC Group Operators, conducted a survey on the Somali National University to assess the refurbishment of a number of multimedia classrooms. The aim is to start collaborations with Italian Universities, following some renovation and modernization works.
One of the core functions of the CIMIC function, in fact, is the support to non-military actors and the civil environment. The performance of this function includes a wide range of military activities, resources and capabilities and can range from information sharing to logistical support, from the provision of materials to the organization of training activities and the development of CIMIC projects, especially in favor of civil authorities and the civilian population.
In this context, the project, run in collaboration with the Agency for Development and Cooperation of the Italian Embassy in Mogadishu, surveyed faculties of Medicine, Agriculture, Law and Economics at the Gaheyr and Polytechnic Campuses therefore carrying out a technical "assessment" aimed at improving the quality of the local educational offer. Initiatives, such as these, definable as stabilization activities, are vital to assisting the youth of Mogadishu in maximizing their potential and enabling them to build a better future for their country.
